Cottages in Hungary

You can find the rich and beautiful Hungarian nature back in the various national and regional parks. The country currently has 10 national parks in total. The Hortobágy National Park is the largest one of these. Besides the national parks, you will also find a variety of protected landscapes and educational (hiking) trails. The country has cold, wet winters and warm summers. Due to this you can find several animal species as well as rare plants.

Flora and fauna

The large pusztas area in the Hortobágy National Park is a popular place for bird watchers. Not only does the goose dwell here, but the crane and sea eagle do as well. In the national park Ferto-Hanság, you will find marshes rather than pusztas. This attracts several species of flora and fauna. For lovers of water birds, the park Danube-Drava is highly advisable. Here you can find many species of water birds, including several herons and the well-known sea eagle.

Activities

The different national and regional parks in Hungary offer a range of possible activities with them. Not only can you walk, cycle, and enjoy the panoramic views, but a visit to caves (national park Aggtelek) or extinct volcanoes (National Park Duna-Ipoly) is also possible. The deepest cave in Europe can be found in Bükk, another national park. Would you prefer to be active, and also learn something from the Hungarian environment and nature? Then follow one of the many educational paths available. Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe and offers many sports.
