Welcome to this particularly cozy wooden nature house on the edge of the Veluwe, with rural decor, wooden terrace and unique, views over the Veluwe countryside. The Bed & Breakfast is located in the outskirts of the Veluwe village of Heerde, just a few kilometers from the river IJssel. The combination of the Veluwe forests on the one hand and the IJssel Valley with its dikes and meadows on the other, make this environment so unique and a place to completely unwind. The wooden cottage is surrounded by a yard and meadows with Ouessant sheep, dwarf goats, Barnevelder chickens and the curious cows in the neighboring farmland. In this part of the Netherlands you can still experience the real Dutch country life. Peace and quiet, space and comfort, but above all privacy characterize this hospitable Bed & Breakfast. A unique place for romantics, peace seekers and bon vivants. "A little hide away" for all seasons!
Nature and surroundings
Het Houten Huisje stands in a meadow area between the IJssel river and the Veluwe forests. A beautiful piece of Gelderland with its many extensive walking and cycling opportunities in such places as the Zwolle woods and the Crown Estates of palace 't Loo in Apeldoorn. Enjoying the views of the unique floodplains with the nature reserve around the high-water channel at Vorchten/Veessen and Wapenveld just a stone's throw away. Planning a pampering day at wellness center the Veluwse Bron or Thermen Bussloo. For art and culture lovers, there are several museums in the towns of Zwolle, Heino, Hattem and Voorst. But also for a visit to Kröller Müller museum in Otterlo. Tour along the winding IJssel River, spotting storks on your way to one of the Hanseatic cities of Kampen, Elburg, Zwolle, Hattem and Deventer. Go on an adventure in the month of September, in the nearby woods of the Veluwe, by experiencing the impressive belling of the red deer or on a widls quest with the forester, looking for red deer, roe deer and wild boar.
