This nature house is located at the (completely private) rear of a 150-year-old longère. The former farmhouse is built with thick natural stone walls and ancient beams, allowing you to feel the presence of nature even indoors. The cottage has been lovingly decorated, blending soft colors and comfort. Both bedrooms exude the atmosphere of the French countryside, and each has its own en-suite bathroom. Grab a book and a cup of freshly picked verbena, and find a spot inside the house or in the private garden, which spans over 2,000 square meters. As evening falls, the last rays of light bathe the garden table, after which the lights come on automatically. Time for a good glass of wine and a game of cards or a round of shuffleboard. Or simply to enjoy the silence together in quiet contemplation. On the other side of the farmhouse, I (Maggs) live with my Labradoodle, Sarah. You’ll only see me if you let me know how I can be of service.
Nature and surroundings
Enjoy the silence and absolute tranquility in this idyllic, rolling corner of the Vendée. The enormous garden borders vast fields and is teeming with butterflies and birds. Golden orioles, hoopoes, green woodpeckers, willow warblers, long-tailed tits, and little owls—they all know their way here. The country road ends at our house, where it turns into a shaded sandy path that takes you to the Forêt de Mervent in a ten-minute walk. There are hundreds of kilometers of biking and hiking trails in the area, and several of them run right past the house. Afterward, you can cool off with a dip in one of the nearby lakes and rivers. The area is home to picturesque medieval towns like Vouvant and Fontenay-le-Comte. Our own Foussais-Payré, designated a “Petite cité de Caractère,” is also well worth a visit. An hour’s drive will take you to the beach, where the coastal path offers stunning views. Or bring your bike and explore the vast Île de Ré—which is also highly recommended on foot!

Free cancellation within 7 days of your booking confirmation, provided the booking request was made more than 28 days before the start date. For bookings starting within 28 days, free cancellation applies within 24 hours. If you cancel within the specified period, you are entitled to a full refund of the booking amount.
After that, you will receive a partial refund of the trip cost and a 100% refund of the deposit:
• Up to 42 days before arrival: 70% refund
• 42–28 days before arrival: 40% refund
• 28 days through the day of arrival: 10% refund
• On the day of arrival or later: no refund
A deposit of €50.00 applies. You will be refunded after check-out.
