Beautifully situated in the rolling countryside in the heart of France, in the Cher region, 800 km from Utrecht—no mass tourism here. Peace and space are the watchwords here. The layout of the spacious gîte: a fully equipped kitchen featuring an oven, 4-burner stove, coffee maker, kettle, and refrigerator with freezer compartment. The bathroom and toilet are also on the ground floor; the dining area and the sitting area with a pellet stove complete the space. On the loft is the bedroom with a double bed (2.00 m x 1.60 m). In front of the gîte is a terrace with garden furniture, offering a beautiful view of the meadows. It is the perfect base for wonderful hiking and biking trips. Our 16 solar panels provide the majority of our electricity needs.
Nature and surroundings
A unique base for hiking and biking trips through the vast meadows and forests. Rivers are never far away here either. On our spacious grounds, we regularly spot deer, foxes, wild boars, and a wide variety of birds. Want to experience the “bustle” for a change? Bourges is a beautiful city with a wonderful historic center, including one of the largest cathedrals in France. After returning from a day out, it’s wonderful to relax on the terrace in front of the gîte with a good book, or to take a refreshing dip in the pool. The surrounding area offers many options for day trips, such as the gardens of Prieuré d’Orsan, L’Abbaye de Noirlac, Lac Sidialles, Domaine George Sand, and the Brenne nature reserve. For wine lovers, the wine village of Chateaumeillant is just 10 km away—unknown in the Netherlands but well worth a visit.
