This nature house is an attractive 2 person (studio) gite, located in the Normandy bocage countryside in Calvados. The gite, part of a traditional longère, is an ideal starting point for lovely walks, bike rides and tours. The private entrance adjoins a balcony with a fantastic unobstructed view of the countryside. The studio is lovingly and tastefully decorated with brocant furniture and art. There is access to a private luxury bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen. Our grounds, with wild plants and watering hole, contain an organic (vegetable) garden in permaculture and a food forest, which can be used in consultation. We pursue self-sufficiency and biodiversity (circular wastewater system) and are happy to let you enjoy that. Experience silence in a hilly environment with two creative and environmentally conscious people. To encourage conscious energy use, we charge electricity per kWh. Together we are building a bright future. That we like to share.
Nature and surroundings
Relax in an area not discovered by tourists in Montchamp, Valdallière. Just behind the gite runs a forest path where you have a view of 'Les Collines Normandes'. There are varied walking and cycling routes over winding roads, through forests, past castles and small villages. It is beautiful and peaceful here in all seasons. Mont St. Michel is an hour away, as are the endless beaches of Lower Normandy. We border Suisse Normandie with high cliffs and canoe trips down the Orne River. Discover historic cities such as Caen, Bayeux, Granville and Falaise. Further afield are the invasion beaches. A 20-minute drive away is the town of Vire with many amenities including stores, restaurants, cinema and train station. During the summer months there are many cultural events and numerous local markets and vide greniers. Taste the Norman specialties. Once home, enjoy from the balcony of the gite and dream away about the Vikings' surroundings, looking out over the Bocage.
