Lovely surroundings, some really nice spots in the garden where we were able to cope just fine with the 38-degree heat wave. Our dog ran around off-leash the entire vacation, and the owners were very accommodating; since our dog doesn’t tend to run away, everything went perfectly.

    Nature, peace & environment: 5 /5

Very peaceful surroundings, in a rural setting.

During the day, we enjoyed listening to all the birds singing their hearts out from early in the morning. The swallows were darting about, hunting insects.
In the evenings, we enjoyed the clattering of the storks in the area and the bats hunting.

The owners were very helpful without being intrusive; everything felt very natural from the very beginning, and we felt right at home from the moment we were greeted.

Peter and Juliette have decorated both cottages with great charm, using natural materials. We stayed in “Le Charmant Rigaul”—the beautiful stone walls, modern bathroom fixtures, and all the old farmhouse details like wooden beams and the like make it very charming. The cottage also features a nice kitchen, a cozy living room, plenty of storage space, enough electrical outlets, and a very comfortable double bed.
You have plenty of privacy, but you can also ask Peter and Juliette for advice about the area. They’re there for you, but they also maintain their own privacy. They’ve struck a nice balance in this regard.

Enjoy nature to the fullest in this beautiful marshland near Carentan. It’s an oasis of tranquility here, surrounded by the sounds of countless birds and, of course, the cows. Seeing the storks fly overhead every day never ceases to be magical. You can hear them “clattering” throughout the immediate area and see stork nests in trees everywhere.

Our two dogs loved the freedom in the garden at the Gite and all the long walks in le marais (the marshland). There are also plenty of hiking opportunities in the surrounding area, and we found the people of Normandy to be very dog-friendly.

Terrace is in front, in itself no problem because owners are very discreet.
