Stay in an original calvados barrel set amongst trees.Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Inside are two fixed single beds with comfortable mattresses. The barrel is powered by solar lights. The decking surrounds the front and side with a table and chairs to enjoy eating al fresco. You share small outdoor kitchen well equipped but if you don't fancy cooking order a fabulous breakfast to be delivered to your door or an authentic Indian curry but meals must be booked in advance. You also share a clean shower block with hot showers. There are plenty of places to visit with Domfront a bike ride away. Full of medieval charm this small city has bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets and a chateau. Close by is forest D'Andaine with its cycle and hiking tracks, Bagnoles with lake and thermal baths also swimming in the lake at Ferte Mace.
Nature and surroundings
As well as our many on site animals who wander there is a wealth of nature. We have herons, kingfishers, cuckoos, owls and woodpeckers. There are often deer, foxes and coypu to be seen. It is possible to explore the wonderful nearby forest D'Anaine with its cycle paths. There are many green routes nearby, a center for Kyaking and golf courses within a short drive. The region has many wonderful attractions, Calvados and Cider farms, Forges and waterfalls.

If you expect nothing, and need nothing, just a place to sleep, then a nice shower, a clean toilet and a reasonably equipped kitchen is a welcome surprise. Everything simple but ample. The animals on the property complete it. We had to send the goats away from our (small) terrace. :-) During dinner we were joined by a small, very sweet horse. Chickens pecked my toe after which I put on closed shoes. :-) :-) Truly a wonderful experience for people who do not need luxury but are looking for peace, quiet and nature.
