This domain occupies 6 hectares of land, half of which is wooded and protected for nature, bordered by the Allemette river. The cultivated gardens offer an outdoor dining space at the rear of the house, a terrace to enjoy a quiet drink at the end of the day, a swinging daybed for that book or to dream, plus deckchairs/loungers. We also have badminton and other garden games available as well as board games. Totally organic, we cultivate our own fruit and vegetables. Home to contemporary Artist Elaine Brett, Rose a Fell pony and Henri rescued hunting hound. Elaine's low-impact ceramics and oil pastel drawings are for sale, and you will often see her working in her studio or garden. Your breakfast is homemade bread, confitures, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, tea/coffee to eat inside or outside as is your preference. You are most welcome, and we look forward to introducing you to this very quiet and often overlooked part of rural France. Children are very welcome.

Nature and surroundings

We live in the Brenne Nature Reserve 'home to a thousand lakes', loved by many for the wildlife, flowers, fauna. Known for the many birds that live permanently or migrate to the region, its rich in history dating back to the middle-ages when Benedictine monks built monastries and created the fishing lakes (smoked carp still being produced locally) and perfect for cycling, walking or simply being. Le Domaine is an easy walk to Château Guillaume, reputed to be the birthplace of Eleanor of Aquitaine, a local landmark that you can visit, or take a picnic and enjoy a circular walk around the Chateau taking in the tranquility. Lignac 3kms with bakery and bar/small shop selling local products. The towns of Challiac and Belabre both with outdoor swimming pools (free) and restaurants. In Belabre you can hire bicycles and canoes. The town of Le Blanc with supermarkets and a range of restaurants (including great pizzas) is 25 minutes away.

Very sweet hostess. Fine room. Only we had to use her kitchen and I found that a bit strange and was also not clear in the description.

A nice quiet cottage, clean and spacious room, excellent bed. A delicious breakfast with homemade bread, jam and fresh fruit from the garden. We were able to relax extensively in the quiet garden. Had nice conversations with the hostess. After greeting horse and dog when we arrived, we felt at home right away.

    Nature, peace & environment: 4 /5

The cottage is particularly quiet next to a large nature reserve where you can drive around a lot and walk in many places. There is much to see and enjoy. The castle of Azay-le-Ferron is worth the visit. The guide enthusiastically told about the history in her best English.

What does “contactless stay” mean?
You can stay here without personal contact with the host, for example via a key safe or digital access. A contactless stay does not always have to be mandatory.
What does “Fireworks-free” mean?
The host indicates that the area is firework-free. Firework-free means that no firework bangs can be heard in and around the accommodation. You might occasionally hear some noise or see some light from fireworks set off outside the immediate area. It is important that you agree with the landlord on what you can expect.
Selection of activities
After each stay, we invite our guests to rate the nature house, the surroundings, and specific activities. An activity is only shown at a nature house if it meets two conditions: at least 20 unique reviews have been given, and at least 60% of guests gave a score of ‘amazing’ (3/4) or ‘wow’ (4/4).
