This Naturehouse is a traditional, historical property, typical of 19th century Cretan country-house. It is situated in the picturesque small village of Vederi and combines the comfort of a 170m2 modern holiday home with the authentic atmosphere of an old family home. Originally built in 1865, it has been restored and renovated to a high standard, keeping as many of the original features as possible in order to reveal the authentic use and purpose of a house that was built almost 140 years ago. The spacious downstairs consists of separate sitting areas and a large open-plan kitchen and dining area, through which you get out to a green back terrace. There, you can also find a bbq corner and outdoor eating space. There is also a 'wellbeing' room with fitness equipment for exercising or meditating overlooking nature and an extra sleeping space. Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms and a second bathroom. Also, a veranda with beautiful sunset and sea views.
Nature and surroundings
The property is built at the edge of the village of Vederi, next to a woodland full of olive trees, oak trees, carob trees and cypresses. Its location urges the visitor to experience the Cretan landscape of the mainland and still be a few minutes away from the sandy beaches of northten Crete. You can easily reach and descover the nearby gorge of Vederi by foot or stroll around and explore the rich local flora. The village of Vederi is near lots of many more beautiful walking and hiking routes, a short drive from traditional villages with delicious local food, long beaches or smaller bays as well as the Lake of Kournas and archeologocal sites. It´s also a 15min drive from the beautiful and busy old town of Rethymno, which offers lots of cultural and leisure activities as well as a big variety of eating and shopping options.
