Nature house in malleville-les-grès

Beautiful, characterful house in a garden of over half a hectare just over 2 km from the sea. The house has an area of 90 square meters (15x6) and it has a ground floor and a first floor. The house is on maps older than the French Revolution. It has a slate roof and the walls are built of flint bricks, chalk (in the interior walls), grès (hard rock), brick and wood. We used mostly recup materials in the restoration. Although you should not expect the grand luxuries, everything is provided. A new, fully equipped kitchen, an infrared sauna, 2 bedrooms but in the end room for 8 people (2 double beds, 2 single beds and a sofa bed downstairs). Present : crib, park, high chair. Heating is done with a heat pump or the soapstone stove. With proper use, you can heat the entire house with the stove and a minimum of wood. It is very quiet in the house! We do not offer Wifi!

The garden is about 7500 square meters and divided into 2 parts. In the part where the house stands, we have planted a standard orchard, hedges, flower beds, small fruit and all kinds of herbs. In the second part, behind the fence, there is a large meadow of half a hectare, bordered on two sides with ancient beech trees. On this part there is an old barn in which swallows nest and the occasional owl. Because we don't cut the grass on the pasture until June, it is buzzing with insects and teeming with small life. It is fertile soil. We are a little more than 2 km from the sea with its high chalk cliffs and nearby is the protected valley of the Durdent where several wading birds breed and where we have spotted otters and badgers. Deeper into the valley organic farmers grow vegetables where you can also go as an individual. The area is veined with hiking trails. We especially enjoy the silence, the salty sea air and the improbably beautiful light at dusk.
