Wooden garden cottage/chalet in southern Normandy, between fields and the few remains of a primary forest. The nature house stands on the edge of the grounds of Dutch couple Ellis and Fré Metselaar, who live there permanently, and overlooks the land. Land that is sometimes grain field (wheat or corn), sometimes pasture. The farmer is not organic, but his ideas are. Almost on the same property is an accessible little chapel, once built by a grateful Lourdes-goer. The living room has French doors to the terrace, next to it a compact open kitchen, connecting to the wet room with shower stall, toilet and sink and a door to the attached double bedroom. The cottage leans against a room that houses the washing machine, a bike shed, an extra parasol and more if needed.
Nature and surroundings
The villages of Saint Mars d'Egrenne, Passais and Mantilly are 3 kilometers away, Le Mont Saint Michel an hour's drive, the cozy Domfront is a 10-minute drive in the other direction. The Second World War has hardly damaged the region, so you occasionally feel like you are in an environment of 100 years ago. You will find here mainly tranquility and hiking areas. Like the Fosse Arthour, where, according to legend, King Arthur is buried after falling off a cliff. Also the whispering spring behind "our little chapel", would be mentioned in one of the legends.
