Nature and surroundings
The ecological cottages are located in Cain, in the heart of the PICOS DE EUROPA, in the Valdeon Valley or Eigon Valley, as recorded in documents from the tenth century. It is a high mountain valley product of the erosion of the old lateral glaciers and excavated by the river Cares from south to north; it is located in a limestone cirque between the western and central massifs of the Picos de Europa. "We are facing the Bay of Biscay, and its breezes or, better to say its fogs, penetrate in a jet stream, through the sickle, like ghosts that slide until they cover the whole region with their sheet. The climate is, for this reason, milder and more humid and allows the winter use of the forest and meadows at the bottom of the gorge".the name of the village in the XII century was Cayn with a meaning of fog, sprout, emerge, source, also due to the sources of "Los Molinos" and "La Jarda" located there.
