This nature cottage is located on the grounds of the ancestral home of Walt Disney’s 1,000-year-old family. The cottage is spacious and tastefully decorated. It features its own private garden and patio. The castle overlooks a national park with beautiful wildlife and hiking trails. On the castle grounds, there is a natural swimming pond, a ping-pong table, foosball, and a honesty shop stocked with essentials. During the summer months, The Bread Fairy delivers pastries and baguettes to your door every morning. Cottage Rose has two bedrooms—one with a double bed and the other with two single beds—as well as a comfortable fold-out bed for two people in the living room.

Nature and surroundings

Monfreville is a 4-kilometer drive from Isigny-sur-Mer, where you’ll find a charming harbor with supermarkets, restaurants, markets, and cafés. The castle was built nearly a thousand years ago on the orders of William the Conqueror and was once home to the Walt Disney family; it was later occupied by German soldiers during World War II. The château is steeped in history and centrally located near the D-Day landing beaches of Omaha and Utah Beach, as well as the American Cemetery, and is close to the villages of Sainte-Mère-Église and Sainte-Marie-du-Mont. The medieval town of Bayeux is home to the British Cemetery and the famous Bayeux Tapestry. Mont Saint-Michel, Monet’s Gardens, Honfleur, and Paris are all great for a day trip, and for some fun, there are miles of golden sandy beaches, making this a wonderful vacation for all ages. Normandy is known as the breadbasket of France, and you won’t be disappointed.
