Nature house in Bayacas, Órgiva

In beautiful nature, in a sun-drenched green valley, there is a romantic nature house with a lovely pool filled with water from the mountains. Amidst almond, olive and orange trees and surrounded by mountains. A small river flows past the house. Through a beautiful road you can drive in an hour to Granada with the world famous Alhambra or to the azure Mediterranean Sea. La Alpujarra is a beautiful mountain area with ancient olive trees, meandering rivers, ancient hiking trails and whitewashed villages. Only the sound of birds, running water or a shepherd with flock breaks the silence. The old water mill of Casabayacas is located on an acequia, a stream of water created 500 years ago by the Moors to supply all the farms with water. The water used comes from this stream. Energy comes from solar panels. On the land are citrus trees, olive trees, almond trees, avocado and pomegranate trees, among which chickens roam. Organic eggs and olive oil are for sale.

This is a perfect hiking area. You don't have to drive far for it, you're right in the middle of it. La Alpujarra stretches from the highest peaks of the Sierra Nevada to the Mediterranean Sea. There are rolling valleys, but you'll also find the more rugged mountain landscapes of the Sierra Nevada and whitewashed villages that don't seem to have changed since the Moors. The hiking trails are as varied as the landscape itself. From forest path to ridge to riverbed. They mostly date from distant times (Roman and Moorish times) and are often old trade and connecting paths between the different villages. There are several hiking trails, including the GR-7, and you can climb the Mulhacen, the highest mountain in the Iberian Peninsula (3,479 meters). The pool is filled with water from the mountains. Every two weeks the landlords drain the pool. Through their own constructed irrigation system, they use this to water the trees and plants. Then the pool is scrubbed clean and filled again. They get the drinking water from one of the springs in the area, such as from Lanjaron, whose spring water is sold in bottles throughout Spain.
