Nature house in Oudemirdum

Very cozy, and completely furnished. With children it is sometimes difficult if a house is full of frills, especially if they are no longer whole. We first make a tour of the house to remove anything breakable or in the way.

Zeer sfeervol, en compleet ingericht. Met kinderen is het soms wel lastig als een huisje vol tierlantijntjes staat, zeker als deze al niet meer helemaal heel zijn. Wij doen dan eerst een rondje door het huis om alles wat breekbaar is of in de weg staat, aan de kant te zetten.

It was truly a nature house. Beautifully situated on the edge of the forest, with wide views over the fields / meadows, and behind you the forest, full of deer and birds and a hedgehog in the garden. You had nothing to do with anyone and that gave a nice feeling of freedom. That the garden is fenced is true, but there is no fence in front, so a dog or a child who wants to escape can easily do so. Our dog did not run away, but based on the description and reviews I would have thought that it could be better enclosed. There is also something in the construction that is not quite right (ventilation), so it always smells very bad in the bathroom. There is some tinkering, there are loose electrical wires hanging here and there, without a crown, and the headboard of the double bed is so badly fixed that it creaks, wobbles and rattles. That didn't spoil the fun for us though, we found it to be a really nice vacation spot and would love to come back.

Het was écht een natuurhuisje. Prachtig gelegen op de bosrand, met ruim zicht over de velden/weiden, en achter je het bos, vól reeen en vogels en een egel in de tuin. Je had verder met niemand wat te maken en dat gaf een fijn gevoel van vrijheid. Dat de tuin omheind is klopt wel, maar er is geen hek aan de voorkant, waardoor een hond of een kind wat ontsnappen wil, daar makkelijk kans toe heeft. Onze hond liep niet weg, maar van tevoren had ik aan de hand van de omschrijving en recensies wel gedacht dat het beter afgesloten kon worden.
Er is ook iets in de constructie niet helemaal in orde(ontluchting), waardoor het in de badkamer steeds erg vervelend ruikt. Er is wat knullig geklust, er hangen her en der losse electriciteitsdraden, zonder kroontsteentje, en het hoofdbord van het tweepersoonsbed zit zo slecht vast dat het kraakt, wiebelt en rammelt. Dat drukte voor ons echter de pret niet, we vonden het in basis écht een toffe vakantieplek en komen graag eens terug.

* The hassle of bringing your own sheets and bedding (not just at this nature house) is not very practical, also because bed sizes vary in cottages. You have to start stocking bedding for many sizes as a customer if you want to book with Nature House more often. We recently booked at another address in Friesland and the same problem occurred there * With this cottage an extra instruction on where to dispose of the garbage would be valuable. Now it was quite searching, also because as a guest you doubt whether you can just throw the garbage in a container on the grounds in the park * Not so much to do with this cottage, but cycling and walking: in much of the area you have to cycle on the road and that is - on an Easter weekend admittedly, so much busier - no fun with all the cars passing every second. Tip to the province that building bike lanes would greatly benefit the area?

* Het gedoe met eigen lakens en beddengoed meenemen (niet alleen bij dit natuurhuisje) is niet heel praktisch, ook omdat de maten van bedden verschillen in huisjes. Je moet als klant voor veel maten beddengoed in voorraad gaan hebben, wil je vaker bij Natuurhuisje gaan boeken. Wij boekten onlangs op een ander adres in Friesland en daar speelde hetzelfde probleem.
* Bij dit huisje zou een extra instructie over waar je de vuilnis kwijt kunt, waardevol zijn. Nu was het best zoeken, ook omdat je als gast twijfelt of je de vuilnis zomaar in een container op het terrein in het park kunt gooien.
* Niet zozeer met dit huisje te maken, maar fietsen en wandelen: in een groot deel van het gebied moet je op de weg fietsen en dat is - in een paasweekend weliswaar, dus veel drukker - geen pretje met alle auto's die iedere seconde passeren. Tip aan de provincie geven dat fietspaden aanleggen het gebied zeer ten goede zouden komen?

Stay was excellent. The cottage is very well equipped, beautifully decorated and felt very welcoming.

Verblijf was prima. Het huisje is erg goed geoutilleerd, prachtig ingericht en voelt heel gastvrij.
