Nature house in Notre-Dame de Cenilly

This cottage is decorated with so much care and attention that you will feel more than welcome. In the living room you can retreat with a book and there is a real houseplant! It therefore feels more like you are looking after someone's house than a vacation cottage. From the 'kitchen diner' you can look straight into the apple orchard through two sliding doors. We walked a lot, bakery and small supermarket within walking distance. It was a very nice week.

Dit huisje is met zoveel zorg en aandacht ingericht dat je je meer dan welkom voelt. In de huiskamer kun je je lekker terugtrekken met een boek en er staat een heuse kamerplant! Het voelt dan ook meer dat je op iemand zijn huis past dan dat het om een vakantie huisje gaat. Vanuit de ‘woonkeuken’ kijk je door twee schuifdeuren zo de appelboomgaard in. We hebben veel gewandeld, bakker en kleine supermarkt op loopafstand. Het was een hele fijne week.

A wonderful week we were able to stay in this beautiful cottage. Apart from the birds singing it is quiet. You look out over an apple orchard and the nights here are still really dark. If you lay in bed you could hear the tawny owl calling.

Een heerlijke week hebben wij mogen verblijven in dit prachtige huisje. Buiten de vogels die fluiten is het er stil. Je kijkt uit over een appelboomgaard en de nachten zijn hier nog echt donker. Als je in bed lag kon je de bosuil horen roepen.

We didn't find the loft where there are 2 mattresses very safe for 2 children. But the master bedroom was big enough to put one of the mattresses there, so we solved that problem that way!

De vide waar 2 matrassen liggen, vonden we niet heel veilig voor 2 kinderen. Maar de ouder-slaapkamer was groot genoeg om één van de matrassen daar te leggen, dus dat probleem hebben we zo opgelost!

A nice, quiet place in the middle of a sea of green meadows. The cottage is fully equipped (and has a wonderful bed!). We had a great time there!

Een fijne, rustige plek midden in een zee van groene weilanden. Het huisje is van alle gemakken voorzien (en heeft een heerlijk bed!). We hebben het er goed gehad!

The cottage is simply furnished, but has a certain charm and offers everything you need. Upon arrival, everything was neat and clean, which gave a pleasant start. The owner was also easily accessible and responded kindly and promptly to questions.The bathroom is very small though and the towel rack hangs a bit in the way, but these are rather small practical points.The biggest point of concern is the moisture problem. Mold was visible in the living room and the whole house felt a bit clammy. There is a dehumidifier available, but since the electricity consumption is charged to the tenant, we did not use it. For people who are sensitive to air quality, such as myself, this did have a negative impact on comfort and sleep.The cottage certainly has potential, and if the moisture problem is addressed in the future, this can be a very nice place to stay for those who love peace, simplicity and nature.Landlord's comment:In periods of heavy rain, the humidity can be high in the living room and that is why a dehumidifier is available.This can increase the living comfort. The average electricity cost is 1 to 2 euro/day.

Het huisje is eenvoudig ingericht, maar heeft een zekere charme en biedt alles wat je nodig hebt. Bij aankomst was alles netjes en schoon, wat een aangename start gaf. De eigenaar was ook goed bereikbaar en reageerde vriendelijk en vlot op vragen.

De badkamer is wel erg klein en het handdoekrekje hangt wat in de weg, maar dat zijn eerder kleine praktische puntjes.

Het grootste aandachtspunt is het vochtprobleem. In de living was schimmel zichtbaar en het hele huis voelde wat klam aan. Er is een luchtontvochtiger aanwezig, maar aangezien het elektriciteitsverbruik ten laste is van de huurder, hebben wij die niet gebruikt. Voor mensen die gevoelig zijn aan luchtkwaliteit, zoals ik, had dit wel een negatieve invloed op het comfort en de nachtrust.

Het huisje heeft zeker potentieel, en als het vochtprobleem in de toekomst wordt aangepakt, kan dit een heel fijne verblijfplaats zijn voor wie houdt van rust, eenvoud en natuur.

Reactie van verhuurder:
In periodes van veel regen kan de luchtvochtigheid hoog zijn in de living en daarom is een luchtontvochtiger beschikbaar.Deze kan het wooncomfort verhogen. De gemiddelde electriciteitskost is 1 a 2 euro/dag.

We stayed in this nature house for a week and especially enjoyed its beautiful, quiet location. The cottage is located along a small French road, in the middle of the green, with a few neighbors here and there, but still plenty of silence.
There is a bit less privacy. For nature lovers this is a really nice place, we even heard dwarf owls, which was a rare and special experience.

We verbleven een week in dit natuurhuisje en genoten vooral van de mooie, rustige ligging. Het huisje ligt langs een klein Frans weggetje, midden in het groen, met hier en daar wat buren in de buurt, maar toch volop stilte.
Er is wel wat minder privacy. Voor natuurliefhebbers is dit echt een fijne plek, we hoorden er zelfs dwergooruilen, wat een zeldzame en bijzondere ervaring was.
