Nature house in Chaumont

This characteristic Normandy naturehouse is set on five acres of private land, completely detached, and with its own orchard. It has been renovated, is light, comfortable and non-smoking. The cottage is in the countryside, just outside the hamlet of Chaumont. The garden is partly fenced and suitable for small children. You are free to stay on other parts of the terrain as well. The many fruit trees bloom plentiful. The silence is ‘audible’ and you are still able to see the Milk Way during the night here. The extensive kitchen is fully equipped and ready to be used. You can find all common groceries, cafes, free WiFi, market, pharmacy and doctor about eight kilometers away in Le Sap or the slightly bigger Gacé. The terrain is suitable for all kinds of sports and other activities, such as fire stoking or simply running around. The landlords generate electricity themselves. The cottage is a real rural hut, not just concrete but also with timber (wood, clay and sometimes a little crack).

Chaumonst is in the Pays d’Auge, a hilly part of Lower Normandy. It has an intimate character of meadows, orchards, woodwalls and so-called hollow roads, with wildlife (deer, badgers, owls, peregrine, swallow) and stunning spring flowers (orchids, wood anemone, primrose). Wildlife can be spotted around the cottage in the evening or early morning. The cottage is in a beautiful spot, looking over a mixed orchard and biologically managed meadow leading up to the green hills in the distance. During the summer, there are several kinds fruit to pick, such as cherries, plums, blackberries, pears, apples, nuts and chestnuts. The surrounding area is ideal for hiking, cycling, canoeing, horse riding and you can visit castles, beautiful gardens and studios. Some famous cheeses also come from this area: Camembert 10 kilometers, Livarot 20 kilometers, Pont L’Eveque 40 kilometers. Extensive folders with maps full of hiking trails are available. The Normandy coast and the beach are roughly an hour away by car. For culture, Paris is 150 kilometers away, or 1.5 hours by train. Other places that are worthwhile are Sees, Alencon, Rouen and Le mans. And don’t forget the many little French villages!
