From 2023 to 2025, we renovated the Alte Schmiede in Geuser—5 km from our main properties—and converted it into a vacation home with two vacation apartments. Dating back to 1848, the Frankenwaldhaus has long been a landmark of Geuser and a popular destination for day trips; it was even featured on postcards. We have preserved the character of the Frankenwaldhaus, insulated it using state-of-the-art sustainable wood fiber insulation, and equipped it with solar panels, a heat pump, and underfloor heating. Each apartment features a wood-burning stove for supplemental heating. Enjoy the Franconian Forest in a historic building, modernized with the latest technology. A charging station for your electric car is available in the parking lot. The Alte Schmiede can now be booked as a vacation home or as individual vacation apartments: “Hufeisen” and “Funkenstube.” We look forward to your visit!
Nature and surroundings
Our goal is to use our farm in the best possible way to preserve creation. This includes, first and foremost, the native flora and fauna—that is, the local plant and animal life. We take great joy in the rare species that have found a habitat on our land. This, too, was a motivation for Petra and Erwin not to intensify the use of the land, but rather to commit to preserving the cultural landscape through extensive farming practices. For us, so-called “farm animals” also play an important role—on the one hand, as a vital substitute for the “ecosystem engineers” such as aurochs, wild horses, and others, which have unfortunately largely disappeared. On the other hand, many old livestock breeds have themselves become rare and endangered. We therefore primarily raise old breeds such as Tyrolean Gray Cattle, Dexter cattle, Franconian Land Geese, Coburg Fox Sheep, Swiss Peacock Goats, and an Old German Herding Dog.

Free cancellation within 7 days of your booking confirmation, provided the booking request was made more than 28 days before the start date. For bookings starting within 28 days, free cancellation applies within 24 hours. If you cancel within the specified period, you are entitled to a full refund of the booking amount.
After that, you will receive a partial refund of the trip cost and a 100% refund of the deposit:
• Up to 42 days before arrival: 70% refund
• 42–28 days before arrival: 40% refund
• 28 days through the day of arrival: 10% refund
• On the day of arrival or later: no refund

- No parties or events are allowed.
- This nature house is not suitable for groups of young people, students and sports teams.
- Waste separation is mandatory in this nature house.
