Located on the edge of a 120-hectare nature reserve, this stylishly furnished cottage sits on the edge of a food forest along a dead-end road. When you look outside, you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of paradise. We do our best to ensure that the birds are fed every day of your stay so that there are always forest birds to see. Squirrels, hares, and hedgehogs also wander right through the garden. The cottage is simple yet comfortable. It features a bathroom with a shower and toilet, a kitchen, a small bedroom (watch out for the authentic low doorframe!), and a spacious living room with three large windows offering views of nothing but nature. One additional guest can sleep on the made-up sofa in the living room (a one-time fee of 25 euros upon arrival); one more guest is welcome with their own (tent), sleeping pad, and bedding. You can easily lock your bike in the wooden shed, which has a charging station. Sunday morning, November 8, will be busy due to an off-road motorcycle ride.
Nature and surroundings
This cottage is located 18 km from Doetinchem on a road that is closed to motorized traffic further down. Don’t expect complete silence: Although you’ll enjoy complete privacy, you’ll be able to hear sounds from our family with children. There’s a motocross track nearby with practice sessions on Wednesdays in the summer and on Saturdays in the winter. You can also hear traffic on the N18 from outside. If you’d like to see more than just the birds in the garden, a 100-meter walk will take you into the Vennebulten forest, which further on transitions into a small stretch of heathland, next to the Zwarte Veen, and beyond that, the Aaltense Goor. A paradise for every nature lover and especially for birdwatchers. There are also mountain bike trails throughout this area, and the entire Achterhoek region is full of beautiful cycling routes, horseback riding trails, and carriage routes, many of which are easily accessible from our place. Additionally, it’s a 600-meter walk to Restaurant de Radstake and the bus stop. Varsseveld, Aalten, Halle, and Lichtenvoorde are all within cycling distance.

I stayed for a midweek getaway and had asked in advance if I could bring my stained-glass supplies, and that wasn’t a problem at all. The owner thought of everything and did her best to create a pleasant workspace. All week long, I had a wonderful spot in the sunroom where I was able to get a lot of work done. It was a very hot week, but you wouldn’t have noticed it at all in the cottage, even though there was no air conditioning. It was very cool inside. I really enjoyed my stay and definitely hope to come back.
Ik ben een midweekje geweest en had vooraf gevraagd of ik mijn glas in lood spullen mee mocht nemen en dit was geen probleem. De eigenaresse heeft aan alles gedacht en haar best gedaan een fijne werkplek te creëeren. Ik heb de hele week een heerlijke plek in de serre gehad waar ik veel werk heb kunnen verrichten. Het was een hele warme week maar dit was in het huisje helemaal niet te merken terwijl er geen airco was. Het was er heel koel. Ik heb genoten en hoop zeker weer terug te komen.
