This cottage was previously used for livestock; most recently, when the farm was still in operation, it served as a chicken coop, which is why we call it “the chicken coop” within our family. The cottage has been completely renovated. The entire cottage has PVC flooring. On the ground floor, there is a living room with a kitchen; the kitchen is equipped with an induction cooktop, a combination oven, and a dishwasher. You can brew a delicious cup of coffee with the percolator or use the Dolce Gusto for convenience. The kitchen is also equipped with everything you need to prepare a delicious breakfast or meal. The spacious bathroom, featuring a toilet, vanity, rain shower, washing machine, and dryer, is also very well-equipped. Upstairs is the bedroom with a 210x210 box spring, providing plenty of space to rest comfortably. The upper floor is also equipped with an air conditioner that circulates cool air downstairs through the open loft. The railroad tracks are just 75 meters away, but thanks to the triple-pane windows, the noise isn’t a problem.
Nature and surroundings
The “chicken coop” is located on the edge of the property, next to the winter feeding forest; the roe deer that live behind the railroad embankment occasionally cross the tracks to visit the area around the cottage. Privacy is guaranteed here; if you’d like to still have a view of the old farmhouse, you can slide the gate open, or if you prefer privacy, you can slide it closed. On the south and north sides, there are terraces where you can enjoy the outdoors and nature. From the hot tub, you can relax while taking in the view of the countryside and the Zutphen skyline. The Voorstonden Nature Reserve, managed by Natuurmonumenten, is 2 kilometers away, and the Tondense and Empese heathlands are also nearby, just 7.7 kilometers away. Zutphen Station, as well as the IJsselkade and thus the center of Zutphen, are 2.5 kilometers away. In the 9th century, the Vikings also spent the night at this site, where their camp was located around our property; the artifacts found here can be admired in Zutphen.
