Enjoy nature and culture at the Waardenburg and Neerijnen estate! You’ll be staying in picturesque Neerijnen in a 4x4 room in an annex to my home. The room has its own exterior entrance. You’ll have access to a private shower and toilet, which are located just outside (under a covered walkway). You’ll also have your own seating area on the terrace, where you can enjoy the garden and the many birds. With a little luck, you’ll hear the owls around the house at night and see the stork flying by nearby. The room has a double sofa bed, providing a spacious seating area during the day that you can easily convert into a double bed in the evening. The room also features a refrigerator, a kettle, a coffee maker, and dining utensils, and you have shared use of my kitchen, located right next to your bathroom. You can store your bikes in the owner’s shed, and you can safely park your car on the property. A bus stop is 300 meters away.
Nature and surroundings
Tucked away in the Betuwe region lies the Waardenburg and Neerijnen estate, owned by Het Geldersch Landschap, where you can enjoy beautiful walks and bike rides. From the accommodation, you can walk straight onto the estate and enjoy the lush castle garden and the many birds. Within walking distance, you’ll also find a clog path in the floodplains, which even has a small swimming beach. (For strong swimmers, as it’s the Waal River.) The accommodation is an ideal base for birdwatchers. The estate is also known for its many species of mushrooms that emerge in the fall. The estate is home to no fewer than two castles: Huis Neerijnen and the older Waardenburg Castle. If you’d like to explore further, there are beautiful cycling routes along the Waal and Linge rivers, and the Heesselt floodplains and the Marienwaard Estate are also within cycling distance. If you’re looking for a bit more culture, the charming fortified town of Zaltbommel, Loevenstein Castle, and Tiel are also within cycling distance.
