Nature and surroundings
In the Drenthe-Frisian Fochteloo you will experience peace, space and nature as it is becoming increasingly rare. From the farmhouse you look out over the farmlands that flow into the impressive Fochteloërveen, one of the largest and best preserved raised bog areas in the Netherlands. This special nature reserve is known for its vast vistas, rich bird life and unique flora and fauna. The area invites for long walks and bike rides through varied landscapes of heath, forest, moor and meadows. A short distance away is also the beautiful National Park Drents-Friese Wold, one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands. In addition, cozy villages and cafes in places like Appelscha and Oosterwolde are easily accessible. An ideal place for nature lovers, hikers, cyclists and anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
