The cottage was built from scratch in 2019 and features underfloor heating. Downstairs, you’ll find the living room with a kitchen, a spacious double bedroom with twin beds and a closet, and a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and washing machine. Upstairs, there is a double bedroom and a single bedroom. There are also dressers on the landing. The cottage has its own driveway with parking. The village of Oudemirdum is about 2 kilometers away, where you’ll find essential amenities such as a bakery, butcher, supermarket, bike rental, and restaurants. Oudemirdum is located along the beautiful Zuiderzee Route, a popular cycling route.
Nature and surroundings
Nijemirdum is located in Gaasterland, a region characterized by “gaasten”—a rolling landscape formed during the Ice Age—on the shores of the IJsselmeer. The towns of Sloten, Balk, Hindeloopen, and Stavoren are within cycling distance. These are well-known for the 11-City Tour. The nearest town is Oudemirdum (2 km), with a charming village square (Brink) where you’ll find several restaurants, a bakery, a butcher, and a small supermarket. The Mar en Klif tourist office, which features a museum about the local area, is also a great place to learn more about the region. There’s plenty to see in terms of nature, such as the nearby Lycklama Forest and the Wyldemerk, which is a dragonfly reserve. In Koudum, there’s a nesting site where sea eagles breed in the spring. The IJsselmeer coast is beautiful, with small beaches and cliffs. Lemmer, which has a lovely beach, is also within cycling distance. Skûtsje races are held here in the summer.
