A very quiet, roof-only vacation cottage in the Palatinate Forest. If you enjoy the atmosphere of the forest, this is the perfect place for you. On clear nights, you can see the Milky Way because there are no streetlights to brighten the night. Flashlights are provided. The ground floor features the living and dining area with a wood-burning stove, a small kitchen, and a small bathroom with a shower and toilet. From here, you can access the sun terrace and the garden, where you’ll find a shady spot under the hornbeam tree or a portable hammock. Upstairs, there are two small bedrooms, one with two beds and one with a single bed. You can also use the sofa bed in the living room as a bed.
Nature and surroundings
You can set out on a hike right from the house, heading in any direction, on short or long walks, past rock formations or through meadows. Various mountain huts and castle ruins are within walking distance. Alsace is not far away, about 20 km. The nearest bakery in the village of Silz is also within walking distance—about 1 km through the forest and then along a small lake. In the Stein district, there is a small grocery store where you can shop 24 hours a day using an EC card. Travel by public transportation is possible: take the train to Annweiler, then continue on bus line 531 to Stein Birkenhof; the walk is about 1 km.
