A wonderful stay: staying in the French countryside at its peasant chic in an ancient farmhouse on the edge of a fairytale primeval forest where the stream flows, the rare orchids grow and the medicinal plants are everywhere. The lovely large garden with cherry orchard overlooks the flower meadow where the horses graze and the castle forms a beautiful backdrop. The river Allier, the last free meandering river in Europe where the wild salmon still swim, is within walking distance, we reveal our favorite secret beach to you! Or you just take a dip in the castle pool. Besides the view, the peace and space, there is so much beauty to discover: beautiful nature, old towns, wine estates, markets with good food or brocante. The farmhouse is a cozy, large 4-person gite where 2 children's beds can be added on request. Marco is an artisan in authentic construction, Muriel is a classical homeopath & silversmith. We speak French, Dutch, English and German.
Nature and surroundings
The river Allier, with swimming beach, is within walking distance and apart from the view, tranquility and space, there is so much beauty to discover: beautiful nature, old towns, wine estates, markets with good food or bric-a-brac. For the sporty guests there are hiking, cycling and mountain biking routes, you can hike, canoeing, rafting, swimming in the river, horseback riding and the race track of Magny Cours is a short drive away. The authentic medieval flower village of Appremont sur Allier with its beautiful castle gardens is definitely recommended as is the oldest oak forest in Europe, the forest of Troncais. Highly recommended: a wine tasting at one of Livry's two wine estates! We have a great bakery in Livry and the nearest supermarket is in Saint Pierre le Moutier, 10 minutes away by car, where you can fill up with petrol or recharge your car with a fast charger. Moulins is a beautiful old town with a lovely restaurant on the river: le Bivouak.
