This nature house is a detached house on our own property. We’re Peerke and Nicole, and we live here with our young dog, Hera. It used to be a barn that we converted ourselves (in 2009) into a home. Now (in 2026), we’ve renovated it and turned it into a B&B. Our (in-laws) used to live here, so the cottage is fully equipped with all the comforts of home. After spending an active day exploring the area, you can sink into the cozy lounge chairs to relax. When the weather is nice, you can also enjoy the evening sun and a lovely view from your own private terrace. Our cottage isn’t a fancy hotel-style cottage or an Ibiza-style cottage. It’s more like a Villa Kakelbont—a mix of old and new. It features a bedroom with two twin beds that can also be pushed together. There’s a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and compact bathroom. You can book breakfast as an add-on. From the cottage, you have a beautiful view of the Hulzenberg and its observation tower.
Nature and surroundings
Located on the outskirts of the village of Stokkum, almost surrounded by the Montferlandse Bos. That’s where you’ll find our B&B. The Pieterpad trail runs about 2 km from the B&B. In the woods, you can hike various trails or bike one of the most challenging mountain bike routes in the Netherlands. The center of the castle town of 's-Heerenberg is about 2 km away, where you can visit Huis Bergh and relax at one of the cozy outdoor cafes. But you can also enjoy a relaxing moment on the terrace right in Stokkum itself, at the start and end point of the Klompenpad Staickheimerpad. Cycle through the woods toward Germany, along the Rhine, and visit various towns there, such as Kleve or Bocholt. The Montferland region has plenty to offer all year round. The forests are beautiful year-round, with fresh green hues in the spring, stunning fall colors, and sometimes snow-covered trails in the winter. Longer bike rides will take you toward Doesburg or a bit further into Germany.

Free cancellation within 7 days of your booking confirmation, provided the booking request was made more than 28 days before the start date. For bookings starting within 28 days, free cancellation applies within 24 hours. If you cancel within the specified period, you are entitled to a full refund of the booking amount.
After that, you will receive a partial refund of the trip cost and a 100% refund of the deposit:
• Up to 42 days before arrival: 70% refund
• 42–28 days before arrival: 40% refund
• 28 days through the day of arrival: 10% refund
• On the day of arrival or later: no refund
- Minimum age of main booker: 18 years.
- Smoking is not allowed in this nature house.
- No fireworks are allowed at this Nature House.
- No parties or events are allowed.
- This nature house is not suitable for groups of young people, students and sports teams.
- Waste separation is mandatory in this nature house.
