Le Cluzeau is a charming little cottage in the woods, partially carved out of the limestone cliffs. It is several hundred years old and is located in the Périgord Vert (Dordogne), 6 km from Brantôme-de-Périgord. Downstairs is the spacious, cozy bedroom (25 m²), which stays cool even in the summer, featuring a double bed. There is also a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sinks. On the first floor is the cozy living room (25 m²) with a wood stove and a dining area, as well as the kitchen (20 m²) with an induction cooktop, a small dishwasher, and a door leading to the terrace. A double sofa bed is in the corner near the stairs leading to the loft bedroom, which has a double bed. There is no Wi-Fi, only 4G; the signal is strongest on the terrace because it’s quite weak inside the house due to the 60-cm-thick walls. The TV is for DVDs and Blu-rays only; there are TV series and movies on the shelf. There is also a stereo system. The cottage is located about 300 meters from Petit Roc; parking is available on the property at the edge of the meadow.

Following a semi-paved forest road, you’ll arrive in a small valley on the edge of the forest with beautiful hiking trails that stretch for about 4 square kilometers across the hill behind the cottage. No traffic—just the occasional hiker or mountain biker passing by. Silence—the owls hoot in the evening, and a little bat circles overhead as you sit on the patio. Sun all day long, but there’s always a shady spot under the trees. Picturesque villages in the area, such as Bourdeilles and Saint-Jean de Cole, and the town of Brantôme and Périgord, with shops and an abbey dating back to 800 AD, just 6 kilometers away. The Villars caves, 12 km away, are also worth visiting. There are beautiful castles and castle ruins throughout the region. The Cole River flows through the valley at an elevation of 400 meters: you can go fishing or take a refreshing dip near the bridge. Périgueux, with its historic center and a full range of shops, is 25 km away.
