A small timber-frame house. As an architect, it was a dream of mine to build this house myself, so I did so with great pleasure. The house is largely built from reused materials. It’s a compact house, similar in size to a Tiny house. Because it’s compact, I added a generously sized wooden deck, which pretty much doubles the living space. There’s one bedroom with a double bed, a loft bed above it, and another sleeping spot under the roof ridge. The other sleeping area is adjacent to the living room, with sliding doors. This space also serves as part of the living room, functioning as a relaxation area. The wood stove, fueled by our own firewood, provides very pleasant warmth and ambiance on cold days. Since it’s a wooden cottage, it warms up quickly. For the kids, there’s a swing and slide, and plenty of space to run around. The yard, including the cottage, is about 500 m2. For the little ones, there’s a crib and a high chair.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is located 5 km from the Bay of the Somme, a beautiful protected nature reserve. The area strongly reminds us of our Wadden Sea: at low tide, it’s an endless expanse. There are also “regular” beaches where you can jump right into the sea or go surfing. Plus, there are chalk cliffs 35 km away where you can gather your own mussels to enjoy for dinner at home. Furthermore, this bay lies at the intersection of two bird migration routes, resulting in a wealth of species. The Parque de Marquenterre bird sanctuary borders the bay and offers beautiful walks. Because this part of France (Picardy) is so flat, biking is very appealing. This is also thanks to the bike paths, which are compatible with the Fietsknoop app. Finally, there are two charming towns on the bay: Le Crotoy, 5 km away, and, on the other side of the bay, Valérie-sur-Somme. Both are well worth a visit. Both towns can get pleasantly busy with tourists. Once back home in Favieres, you’ll find the peaceful tranquility of the French countryside.

Free cancellation within 7 days of your booking confirmation, provided the booking request was made more than 28 days before the start date. For bookings starting within 28 days, free cancellation applies within 24 hours. If you cancel within the specified period, you are entitled to a full refund of the booking amount.
After that, you will receive a partial refund of the trip cost and a 100% refund of the deposit:
• Up to 42 days before arrival: 70% refund
• 42–28 days before arrival: 40% refund
• 28 days through the day of arrival: 10% refund
• On the day of arrival or later: no refund
A deposit of €50.00 applies. You will be refunded after check-out.
