A cottage made of wood frame construction. It was a dream for me as an architect to build this cottage myself, so I did so with great pleasure. It is a compact house, close to the size of a Tiny House. Because it is compact, I added a large wooden terrace, which doubles the living space. There is one bedroom with a double bed and a bunk bed above it, and another room under the roof. The other sleeping area is adjacent to the living room, with sliding doors. The wood stove, fired with its own wood, provides pleasant warmth and atmosphere on cold days. For the kids there is a swing and slide and room to romp. The garden including the cottage is about 500 m2. For toddlers there is a crib and highchair.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is located 5 km from the Bay of Somme, a beautiful protected natural area. The area is very reminiscent of our tidal flats: at low tide an endless plain. There are also "ordinary" beaches to jump right into the sea or surf. Then there are chalk cliffs 35 km away, where you can gather your own mussels and eat them at home in the evening. In addition, this bay is located on 2 intersecting migration routes of birds, thus providing a wealth of species. Bird sanctuary Parque de Marquenterre is located against the bay and offers beautiful walks. Due to the flat location of this part of France (Picardy) cycling is very attractive. Finally, there are 2 attractive towns on the bay: Le Crotoy at 5 km and on the other side of the bay Valerie-sur-Somme. Very worthwhile, both towns can be pleasantly crowded with tourists. Once back home in Favieres, there is the village tranquility of the French countryside.
