This vacation home in the Allier (Auvergne, France) is located about two kilometers from the village of Villefranche d'Allier. The house is situated on a dead-end road, along which—at a considerable distance—there are two other homes and a farmhouse. The spacious house is nestled among rolling meadows where cows graze. The main house (there is also a smaller house on the property that we do not rent out, so you’ll have the place to yourselves) features a bedroom with two single beds and a mezzanine with a double bed, a spacious kitchen-diner, a living room, a bathroom, and a separate toilet. The house is heated by wood stoves. There’s a spacious garden with plenty of sun and shade. The garden is visited by many species of birds. In the evening, the “hooting” of the tawny owl can be clearly heard against the backdrop of beautiful sunsets. Peace, space, and privacy. Comfortable indoor and outdoor furniture. Comfortable beds. Fully equipped kitchen, including a washing machine and dishwasher. Games for indoors and outdoors.

A vacation in the Allier means being welcomed to a quiet, green corner in the heart of the country, where tranquility, nature, and French charm come together. The area is characterized by rolling hills, meadows dotted with peaceful cattle, forests, and the tranquil Allier River, which meanders slowly through the landscape. Here, you’ll feel far away from the hustle and bustle, yet always close to something fun to do. The Allier is ideal for those who enjoy hiking and biking. Trails start right at your doorstep, leading through forests and along small rivers, past medieval villages, castles, and picturesque towns. You can go swimming in the area’s beautiful lakes. Villefranche d’Allier is a small village with all the basic amenities: there are two bakeries, a butcher, a small supermarket, and two restaurants that are open for lunch. About six kilometers away is Cosne d’Allier, a larger town with bigger supermarkets, a weekly market on Tuesday mornings, several restaurants, and a small café.
