Between the meadows, hidden in the green between Eefde and Zutphen, stands this tastefully converted barn in the yard of a former farm. A place where it is quiet, where you can hear the birds and where the day slows down automatically. The annex is completely separate from our house and offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. Inside you will find a private kitchen and bathroom, and on the second floor a quiet bedroom overlooking our garden with fruit trees and our organic food forest. Outside is a south-facing veranda, a nice place for a long morning coffee or a glass of wine at the end of the day. The area lends itself to walking and cycling, with the river IJssel a short distance away and the historic center of Zutphen within biking distance. Within walking distance is a supermarket and a small coffee shop, but otherwise the space and tranquility of the Achterhoek predominate here. In consultation and at extra cost, the hot tub can be heated. (on wood)
Nature and surroundings
Around Eefde and Zutphen there is much to do for those who love peace, nature and small-scale trips. From the cottage you walk or cycle directly into the green countryside, with meadows, dikes, forests and estates. Along the IJssel are beautiful routes through the floodplains, with panoramic views and many birds. In Eefde, the lock is a special point to take a look at. Zutphen is within cycling distance and has a historic city center with old streets, stores, terraces, museums and good restaurants. Nearby are also estates and castles, such as Hackfort and Verwolde, with hiking trails through woods and parkland, and you can canoe on the Berkel River, take a boat trip, visit local markets or settle down at a local coffee shop or restaurant. The Achterhoek is known for its quiet bike paths, varied landscape and relaxed atmosphere. A nice environment to be active and then sit outside in peace.
