Just 4 hours from the Dutch border, our vacation home is ideally located in the heart of the triangle formed by the Baie de Somme (45 min), Le Touquet (45 min), and Amiens (60 min). This rich and diverse tourist region will allow you to enjoy an idyllic and enriching vacation... After crossing the bridge and settling comfortably into your home, situated on a 2,000 m² island all to yourself... Your pet can relax and enjoy the grounds and the large lawn. In the evening, after a wonderful, eventful day, unwind to the sound of the water on the spacious terraces—an experience you’ll find only here. And if you feel like it, the BBQ is there for you... As for central heating, there’s a charge of 15 € per night, payable on-site in cash. If you’re bringing a pet, please let us know what kind of dog it is. There’s an additional fee of 30 € to be paid on-site.
Nature and surroundings
As for the coastline, you’ll have your pick of fine-sand beaches (home to 650 seals) or pebble beaches, high cliffs, or long beaches stretching as far as the eye can see... And all this in the invigorating fresh air; you can also go hiking sheltered from the wind in the heart of our vast national forests of Crécy (15 km) and Hesdin (15 km) Numerous historic sites, focusing on World War I and World War II, welcome you so that we may never forget… And just an hour from the house lies Amiens, home to France’s tallest cathedral, where the spirit of Jules Verne—a native of the city—still lingers. There are castles and abbeys to discover, as well as the remarkable medieval towns of Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme (40 min) and Montreuil-sur-Mer (40 min)... As you’ve probably noticed, it will take you more than a week to discover all the treasures our region has to offer—which is perfect, because we’ll always be here to welcome you back...

Actually, everything was good enough for a 10/10. Even though the kitchen layout could be a bit more logical. Or the bed could be a little longer. That last point is almost always the case, since we have a 2.20-meter bed at home. But other than that, the amenities were top-notch. A good shower, a comfortable sofa and chairs, and a cozy dining area with comfortable chairs there as well. There were lovely patios right next to the cottage, which we were able to make good use of—thanks in part to the fantastic weather! And the umbrella, too, by the way.
In addition, Gérard and Valérie both regularly went the extra mile to take our vacation to the next level—from the warm welcome with a basket full of local delicacies to personally walking us through the nearby sights to arranging a table at a cozy, excellent restaurant in Hesdin. We’ve never had such wonderful hosts before!
We’ve already booked this cottage for our next vacation in the region—if it’s still available, that is.Eigenlijk was alles goed voor een 10/10. Ook al kan de keuken iets logischer worden ingedeeld. Of het bed een beetje langer. Dat laatste is bijna altijd aangezien we thuis een bed van 2,20m hebben. Maar verder waren de voorzieningen top. Goede douche, prima bank en stoelen, gezellige eethoek met ook hier prima stoelen. Leuke terrassen direct aan het huisje, waar we mede dankzij het fantastische weer goed gebruik van hebben kunnen maken! Ook van de parasol trouwens.
Daarnaast hebben Gérard en Valérie beide regelmatig iets extra gedaan om de vakantie naar een hoger niveau te tillen. Van het hartelijk welkom met een mand vol lekkers uit de regio tot het persoonlijk doornemen van de bezienswaardigheden in de buurt tot het regelen van een plekje in een gezellig en goed restaurant in Hesdin. Nooit eerder hebben wij zulke goede hosts gehad!
Voor een volgende vakantie in deze regio staat het huisje al vast. Als het dan tenminste nog beschikbaar is.A private island deserves more than 5 stars! What a wonderful sense of space all around you. And what a feeling of freedom! There are plenty of spots to completely retreat to. Among the trees and plants. But our favorite spot was the two lounge chairs by the rapids. The sound of the water, complemented by the rustling of the wind through the trees and the birdsong. Heavenly! No wonder we look back on a successful vacation and consider this one of the highlights!
Een privé eiland verdient meer dan 5 sterren! Wat een heerlijke ruimte om je heen. En wat een gevoel van vrijheid! Er zijn zat plekjes om je helemaal terug te trekken. Tussen de bomen en planten. Maar ons favoriete plekje was de 2 luie stoelen bij de stroomversnelling. Het geluid van het water, aangevuld met het geruis van de wind door de bomen en de vogelgeluiden. Zalig! Geen wonder dat we terugkijken op een geslaagde vakantie en juist dit zien als één van de hoogtepunten!

The house was perfect for our family of two adults one child and a dog.
As said above we highly recommend the house as it is a truly unique location and there is much to explore in the region or to simply spend the day by the river running by the house listening to bird song and the water flowingWe spent a wonderful week at this vacation cottage in Le Ponchel. Situated on a small island surrounded by a flowing river, it is an incredibly serene and peaceful place. We woke each morning to birdsong, the sound of the river, and the wind through the trees — truly a little paradise on earth.
The cottage was spotless, cozy, and welcoming. A lovely gift basket awaited us on arrival, including treats for our dog, Toto. The garden is beautifully maintained, with several peaceful spots to sit and enjoy the river view.
Gerard and Valerie were the warmest and most hospitable hosts we have ever experienced. They gave great local tips, offered to pet sit so we could visit Nausicaá Aquarium, and Gerard even helped replace a broken headlight bulb on our car.
We highly recommend this cottage for anyone seeking peace, nature, and exceptional hospitality.
