Nature house in Sécheval

Not only is the house itself a wonderful place to stay, but it’s also centrally located for a wide range of activities. In the immediate vicinity, you’ll find a splash pad and water slide park, a lake where you can swim, several castles, museums, and, of course, a vast area full of beautiful hiking trails.

The garden is exceptionally large and offers plenty of space to play, walk around, or simply enjoy nature. It’s worth noting, however, that the grounds are slightly sloped and the grass isn’t flat. For small children, it’s a wonderful place to explore, but it’s less suitable for a game of soccer.

Secheval itself doesn’t have a supermarket or any shops. During our stay, there was a baker on the square across from the church, but only between 9:00 and 10:30, and even then, it was sometimes a surprise whether he was already there or had already left. Fortunately, there are several supermarkets about a 10-minute drive away, so grocery shopping is no problem at all.

Naast dat het huis zelf heerlijk is om in te verblijven, ligt het ook nog eens centraal voor tal van activiteiten. In de directe omgeving vind je een sprinkussen/glijbanenpark, een meer waar je kunt zwemmen, meerdere kastelen, musea en natuurlijk een uitgestrekt gebied vol prachtige wandelroutes.

De tuin is bijzonder groot en biedt veel ruimte om te spelen, rond te lopen of gewoon te genieten van de natuur. Wel is het goed om te weten dat het terrein licht hellend is en het gras niet vlak. Voor kleine kinderen is het een heerlijke plek om te ontdekken, maar voor een potje voetbal is het minder geschikt.

Secheval zelf heeft geen supermarkt of winkeltje. Tijdens ons verblijf stond er wel een bakker op het plein tegenover de kerk, maar alleen tussen 9:00 en 10:30, en zelfs dan was het soms een verrassing of hij er al stond of juist al weg was. Gelukkig zijn er meerdere supermarkten op ongeveer 10 minuten rijden, waardoor boodschappen doen geen enkel probleem is.

The house is located on the outskirts of Secheval and overlooks meadows and forests. The large garden is charmingly landscaped and offers a lovely outdoor seating area where you can sit in the sun for most of the day and evening. And if it gets a little too hot, just open the umbrella.

The interior is spacious. In addition to three bedrooms and a bathroom, there’s a sitting room, a kitchen-diner, and a sunroom. The kitchen features a large table that’s perfect for drawing, crafting, or playing board games. The kitchen is also exceptionally well-equipped, with high-quality pots and pans and sharp knives that make cooking a real pleasure.

Another nice touch: upon arrival, practical items such as dishwasher tablets, soap, and trash bags are already provided. There’s also a clear instruction manual (in English, French, and Dutch) explaining how the house works, including how to use the washing machine.

Frieke was also quick to respond whenever we had questions, such as where we could go canoeing.

Het huis ligt aan de rand van Secheval en kijkt uit over weiden en bossen. De grote tuin is sfeervol ingericht en biedt een fijne buitenzitplek waar je het grootste deel van de dag én avond in de zon kunt zitten. En als het even te warm wordt, klap je gewoon de parasol open.

Binnen is het ruim opgezet. Naast drie slaapkamers en een badkamer zijn er een zitkamer, een woonkeuken en een serre. In de keuken staat een grote tafel ideaal voor tekenen, knutselen of het spelen van bordspellen. De keuken is bovendien uitstekend uitgerust, met fijne pannen en scherpe messen die het koken echt plezierig maken.

Wat ook prettig is: bij aankomst zijn praktische zaken zoals afwasmachineblokjes, zeep en vuilniszakken al aanwezig. Daarnaast ligt er een duidelijke handleiding (in het Engels, Frans en Nederlands) met uitleg over het huis, waaronder hoe de wasmachine werkt.

Frieke was ook snel met het reageren wanneer we vragen hadden, bijvoorbeeld waar we mooi kunnen kanoën.
