The name of the nature house is inspired by a book; in which H.D Thoreau describes how he lived in simplicity in a cabin, in the middle of nature. As in the book, this is all about conscious living. The cottage has been renovated sustainably, with respect for everything that grows and flourishes. The sun provides energy, hot water comes from the heat pump. Everything invites you to stop and really feel where you are. Those who stay here will notice that this nature house is more than a place to sleep. It is an invitation, as Thoreau once did, to reconnect with yourself and the world around you.The cottage has a cozy living room with panaroma views of the surrounding meadows. There is a smart TV, wifi, an extensive kitchen with 2 burner stove electrics, a combi microwave and a large refrigerator with ample freezer compartment. A dishwasher is also provided. Downstairs is a small bedroom for 2 people, upstairs a spacious sleeping loft of 11 m long for 3 people. The sauna is in your own garden
Nature and surroundings
Our garden is ideal for children. There is a pond 60 m long where you can canoe. A trampoline and ping pong table and tennis pole that you may use . You can also pet our sweet goats Bo and Bambi. Our chickens walk around freely. Located amidst the unique scenic landscape of the Frisian forests, with trees, oaks and alder bushes and a unique flora and fauna. Located between 2 national parks, Lauwersmeer and the Alde feannen. Near the UNESCO heritage Wadden coast. Historical cities nearby, such as Leeuwarden, Groningen and Dokkum. The kruidhof with museum and playground and the idyllic Veenklooster forest are 5 minutes from the nature house. Also 5 minutes away you will find the Twijzelermieden with unique bird vegetation. Watch tower and bird watching huts.
