The Elfenwoonwagen – Romantic and Playful Enjoyment at Lac du Der Tucked away among the trees, near the stunning Lac du Der in the Champagne region, lies a place where you can slow down together. The Elfenwoonwagen, made entirely of wood and lovingly decorated, is tucked away in the small forest of Domaine du Der—literally in the middle of nowhere. An idyllic setting for quality time, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. For couples, this is an intimate and romantic retreat: wake up to birdsong, enjoy breakfast together surrounded by nature, and share the silence in the evening. At the same time, for children, the caravan feels like a little adventure—a place where imagination naturally comes to life. This makes the Elfenwoonwagen just as suitable for a relaxing family getaway as it is for a romantic escape.
Nature and surroundings
A walk of less than 2 kilometers will take you to Lac du Der, Europe’s largest artificial lake, where more than 300 bird species have their property. White-tailed eagles, cranes, and bitterns have been spotted here. The area is just as large as Hoge Veluwe National Park, and a bike path about 40 kilometers long has been built around the lake. You can rent a bike from us. Even closer by are the Outines ponds: small bodies of water dating back to the Middle Ages, when the monks of Saint Pierre Abbey built them for fishing. Head out early—that’s when you’ll see the coypu quietly gliding through the water. And you don’t even need luck to spot a roe deer. Recently, I was driving down the road at 2:30 p.m. when I had to yield to 10 deer crossing the road. Welcome to the Domaine du Der! Arno and Leonoor
