Treehouse of Secrets – A Night Among the Tree Tops and Silence at Lac du Der Hidden among the greenery, high above the forest floor, lies a place where the world pauses for a moment. Our Treehouse of Secrets sits four meters above the ground, perched on three monumental trees, tucked away in the tranquil forest park of Domaine du Der. Here, you’ll experience what it means to be invisible for a moment—and to truly find yourself. From the terrace and the windows, you look out over ponds and vast forests. In spring and fall, this is a dream spot for spotting cranes, while in the evening, the calls of night birds set the scene. Whether you come to slow down, listen, or simply be: this is a place that offers something special every season. The treehouse is built from larch wood: strong, durable, and naturally resistant to wind and weather. Thanks to an innovative mounting system, the trees remain completely intact.
Nature and surroundings
A walk of less than 2 kilometers will take you to Lac du Der, Europe’s largest man-made lake, where more than 300 bird species have their property. White-tailed eagles, cranes, and bitterns have been spotted here. The area is just as large as Hoge Veluwe National Park, and a bike path about 40 kilometers long runs around the lake. You can rent a bike from us. Even closer by are the Outines ponds: small bodies of water dating back to the Middle Ages, when the monks of Saint Pierre Abbey built them for fishing. Head out early—that’s when you’ll see the muskrats gliding quietly through the water. And you don’t even need luck to spot a roe deer. Recently, I was driving down the road at 2:30 p.m. when I had to yield to 10 deer crossing the road. Welcome to the Domaine du Der! Arno and Leonoor
