Tiny house in the polder on the Groningse Hogeland. The nature house is located on the plot of our house and was built completely new in 2025. The cottage is detached and has a private garden with terrace facing south. You have free views over the farmlands and the apple orchard of our neighbors (where fresh juices and honey are also available) and you can enjoy your stay undisturbed. The Birdhouse has a living room with kitchenette, two separate bedrooms (double and single) and a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. The kitchen is equipped with crockery and cooking utensils, a small refrigerator and you can use a free-standing induction hob (2 cooking zones). The living area has a comfortable sofa and a small table with fine chairs. A number of (board) games and books are available in the cottage. There is also a TV and wifi connection - we look forward to welcoming you!
Nature and surroundings
The Groninger Hogeland is a quiet and vast area with plenty of opportunity for walking and cycling. The Uithuizerwad is within cycling distance, as is the beautiful Noordpolderzijl with café het Zielhoes. From there it is possible to take a guided mudflat walk. Nearby are many old churches and beautiful villages, including Winsum and Eenrum. In Warffum is the open-air museum and in Uithuizen you can visit the Menkemaborg with its castle museum and gardens. Uithuizen has a train station with a connection to Eemshaven and the city of Groningen. The distance to the station from The Birdhouse is 1.4 kilometers and is fine to walk.
