Nature house in Ödskölt

The cottage is beautiful and was built by the owner, Martin, himself. It’s made entirely of wood, which helps it retain heat well while staying nice and cool on hot days. There’s also an air conditioner in the cottage and electric heaters for cold days. The owners are very helpful, and if you need anything, they’re there for you. Plus, this part of Sweden is absolutely stunning. It’s very peaceful, with plenty of nature, countless lakes, and lots of wildlife. You can also use the BBQ, and thanks to the two terraces, you can sit in the sun at any time of day. In the evening, you can hear the lapping of the lake and the many sounds of the animals in the forest. In short, that’s why I give it a 10—because this is truly a fantastic place, with very kind owners. There’s a supermarket nearby and plenty of places to eat out. Martin’s top tip is Rosellmagasinet restaurant in Bengtsfors. Here, you can enjoy a delicious, authentic Swedish buffet for lunch!

Het huisje is prachtig en zelfgebouwd door de eigenaar Martin. Het is helemaal van hout en dat zorgt ervoor dat het de warmte goed vast houdt en tegelijk op warme dagen lekker koel is. Er is ook een airco aanwezig in het huisje en elektrische kachels voor de koude dagen. De eigenaren zijn heel behulpzaam en als je iets nodig hebt staan ze voor je klaar. Daarnaast is deze omgeving van Zweden prachtig. Veel rust, natuur, ontelbaar veel meren en er zijn veel wilde dieren. Je kan ook gebruik maken van een BBQ en door de twee terrassen kan je op elk moment van de dag in de zon zitten. In de avond hoor je het kabbelen van het meer en de vele geluiden van de dieren in het bos. Kortom daarom de 10 omdat dit echt een fantastische plek is, met hele lieve eigenaren. Vlakbij is er een supermarkt en genoeg plekken waar je uit eten kan gaan. De gouden tip van Martin is restaurant Rosellmagasinet in Bengtsfors. Hier kan je tussen de middag genieten van een heerlijk echt Zweeds Buffet!

It was truly an unforgettable experience for us! To get to the cottage, you drive down a dirt road and find yourself completely away from civilization. The only people around us were the friendly and helpful owners of the cottage, Martin and Sigrid—not to mention their beautiful cat. The cottage is fully equipped. It has a nice shower, an oven, plenty of storage space for your belongings, a rapid-filter coffee maker, and we were even able to use a coffee bean grinder. In short, the cottage has everything you need. There’s also a TV with plenty of channels and Netflix. However, we didn’t use it much, because the surroundings are far too beautiful to sit in front of the TV. We were there in June, and it hardly gets dark at all here then. In the afternoon, the sun shines in through your kitchen window, and you can watch the sunset from the terrace overlooking the lake. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the lake is wonderful for swimming, and the water is safe to drink right away.

Het was ons echt een onvergetelijke ervaring! Om bij het huisje te komen rij je een onverharde weg in en ben je helemaal weg van de bewoonde wereld. De enige mensen om ons heen waren de vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaren van het huisje, Martin en Sigrid en niet te vergeten hun prachtige kat. Het huisje is van alle gemakken voorzien. Prettige douche, oven, genoeg bergruimte voor je spullen, snelfilter koffiemachine en we konden gebruik maken van een koffiebonenmolen. Kortom je hebt alles in het huisje wat je nodig hebt. Er is ook een tv aanwezig met veel zenders en netflix. Echter hebben wij daar weinig gebruik van gemaakt, want deze omgeving is veel te mooi om voor de tv te zitten. Wij waren er in juni en dan wordt het hier nauwelijks donker. In de namiddag schijnt de zon via je keukenraam naar binnen en kan je vanaf het terras aan het meer kijken naar de zonsondergang. O en nu vergeet ik helemaal te zeggen dat het meer heerlijk is om in te zwemmen en het is meteen je drinkwater.
