Nature house in Vaksdal

The view compensates for the minor issues we had. It was our first time with a "Nature toilet", meaning a toilet into the ground, giving off some strong ammonia smell, but better than getting out of the house to somewhere else. We might recommend, although water is scarce to either wash the floor prior to guests, rather than only vacuum clean. Selfpowered by solar, worked perfectly, even the converter to 240V. Nice and dry wood for heating and grill was excellent. Don't know if the shower can be improved in any way and perhaps a small platform outside could be made with a bathcover around for a little privacy. Would recommend a stronger recommendation to customers to really bring and use only boots (rubber boots, rain boots, og water proof hiking boots), since access to the house goes through wet land, and any hiking from the house is also through wetland often covering the top of a normal shoe. But again, all in all, an excellent stay!

It was everything we expected and more. We couldn't believe that we had actually booked a stay with this view, but arriving there, it is beyond belief. We have 200 photos of that view now. The house is big enough for a big family, and you can drive to nearby amazing sites too, i.e. Bergen, the small lake beach, etc. We came for the view, the isolation, the weather, and got it all. And only 10min drive you are down in civilization again. We might also go again.

What a lovely little paradise you have here—and it’s wet. ;-)
This morning, for the first time in a week, we had a clear blue sky and lovely warm sunshine.

We’re impressed by the self-sufficient options—and the luxury.
And the beautiful surroundings.
Bergen is a wonderful city.
And “Ticket to Ride”? We played about 50 games because of the rain.
We think this is a place we’d love to come back to.

Wat hebben jullie een heerlijk paradijsje hier, en nat. ;-)
Vanochtend na een week de eerste strakblauwe hemel en een heerlijk warm zonnetje.

We zijn onder de indruk van de self sufficient-mogelijkheden / luxe.
En de mooie omgeving.
Bergen een heerlijke stad.
En Ticket to ride? Vanwege de regen zo'n 50 potjes gespeeld.
Wij vinden het een plekje om terug te komen.

Everything you need is there. Well-equipped kitchen, gas stove, wood stove and other types of stoves (some easier to get on than others). With snowfall it does become a bit more challenging, especially to get there (steep road, with snow not passable to the top). There is no shower inside, showering outside is a choice (especially in winter). Cozy furnished with a nice sitting area and separate dining table/bench. All in all a super cottage in a fantastically beautiful place in the middle of nature.

Alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig. Goed uitgeruste keuken, gasfornuis, houtkachel en andere soorten kachels (de ene wat makkelijker aan te krijgen dan de andere). Bij sneeuwval wordt het wel wat uitdagender, zeker ook om er te komen (steile weg, met sneeuw niet begaanbaar tot boven). Er is geen douche binnen, buiten douchen is een keuze (zeker in de winter). Gezellig ingericht met een fijne zithoek en aparte eettafel/bank. Alles bij elkaar een super huisje op een fantastisch mooie plek midden in de natuur.

Located on the mountain with lots of peace and quiet a beautiful location overlooking the fjord. Upon arrival it had snowed heavily which made the trek to the cottage more challenging but also gave a beautiful view. Upon arrival the stove fired up to get the temperature more comfortable. In the cottage you had all the comforts. Well equipped kitchen, fine beds with warm comforters. Several systems for electricity, heat and water (although in our case the water could not be turned on due to the frost). Getting water from the stream for washing dishes. All in all they were nice and quiet days, to cut yourself off from the outside world for a while.

Gelegen op de berg met veel rust een mooie locatie met uitzicht op het fjord. Bij aankomst had het flink gesneeuwd wat de tocht naar het huisje uitdagender maakte maar ook een prachtig uitzicht gaf. Bij aankomst de kachel opstoken om de temperatuur wat aangenamer te krijgen. In het huisje was je van alle gemakken voorzien. Goed uitgeruste keuken, fijne bedden met warme dekbedden. Verschillende systemen voor elektra, warmte en water (hoewel bij ons het water niet aan kon ivm de vorst). Water halen uit de beek voor de afwas. Alles bij elkaar waren het fijne en rustige dagen, om je even van de buitenwereld af te sluiten.
