Our nature house is an attractive studio apartment for two in a former farm barn built in 1924. The barn sits on a 2300m² plot, along with our residence. The studio is 35m² in size, is heated with a wood stove and has large French doors to a high living room. To the right you will find a modern bathroom, in the back a small kitchen. Through a staircase next to the kitchen you reach the bedroom on the mezzanine. The barn was sustainably renovated using almost only reused materials. Old floorboards became paneling, a discarded staircase was given a second life and a large 2nd-hand kitchen with marble top was converted into a cozy kitchen. The (forest) garden is an ecological oasis for birds and insects, with old pollard willows, a weeping willow and hidden sitting areas. During the day you can hear birdsong, in the evening you enjoy peace, sunset and deep darkness. Eleven chickens and two goats live on the property. Paved paths are lacking, therefore we ask you to wear toffles indoors.
Nature and surroundings
Kamperland is located on the west side of North Beveland, between Veerse Meer Lake, Oosterschelde National Park & the North Sea. The Veerse Meer & the Goudplaat are within biking/walking distance and perfect for a nice walk. The Oosterschelde is further away, but easily accessible by bike or car. Here you can hear curlews, oystercatchers and geese calling. In winter, wigeons and gooses are plentiful. The North Sea, with its wide Banjaardstrand, dunes & Veerse Gatdam, can be reached in fifteen minutes by car. Nearby is De Schotsman nature reserve, where you will discover special plants in spring & summer. Also Oranjezon, the impressive Oosterscheldekering & the Kop van Schouwen show how versatile Zeeland is. The Zeeland Delta is a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers: spotting seals on Neeltje Jans, beachcombing after a storm or enjoying fresh mussels. Bring your binoculars! And want to go into town? Zierikzee, Goes & Middelburg are all within a half-hour drive.
