Our authentic gîte is located in the green heart of the Dordogne in Saint Martial de Valette, near the town of Nontron. The gîte is located in one of the old buildings of our 17th-century farmhouse. Upon arrival, the experience begins: via a wooden bridge you cross the river and you literally step into another world, a place of silence and nature. Inside you will find two comfortable bedrooms with separate beds (suitable for four people), a modern bathroom with rain shower and toilet and an extra separate toilet. The spacious living room with wood stove offers a cozy place to quietly relax. The large kitchen-diner invites you to enjoy cooking together. Outside you can eat on the terrace and enjoy. And of course you can also take a refreshing dip in our pool or take a relaxing walk through the green meadows and woods around our house. In short, enjoy the French countryside!
Nature and surroundings
Our cottage is located in a quiet and rural area where you can walk right from the yard. The little river Bandiat meanders through the landscape; walking paths lead through meadows and forests full of birds and peace. In the garden it is green, quiet and lively at the same time: deer regularly pass by and it is bursting with (singing) birds. For bird and nature lovers, our place is a small paradise. La Flow Vélo, a beautiful cycling route of 400 kilometers from the coast at La Rochelle to Sarlat la Canéda in the middle of the Dordogne, runs right past our house. We have explored the region by bike for years and are happy to help you with routes and tips. The nearby town of Nontron still has a really good French bakery, several supermarkets, fine and affordable restaurants and a cozy center where it is lovely and lively on warm summer evenings. With us you can enjoy peace and nature with good facilities nearby, ideal!
