Escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy the tranquility of the French countryside in a charmingly renovated stone cottage featuring authentic details such as original beams. The cottage has a cozy living room with a wood stove and a fully equipped kitchen on the ground floor. Upstairs, you’ll find a spacious bedroom with a comfortable double bed, a modern bathroom, and a separate toilet. There is free high-speed Wi-Fi and a television with Dutch channels. On the wooden terrace, you can dine in the evening sun, enjoy a good glass of wine, or relax after a day of hiking and exploring. Surrounding the cottage, you’ll find peace, greenery, and plenty of space and nature. Due to the many steps, the cottage is not suitable for people with limited mobility; there are no activities for children, and pets are not allowed. Our second cottage (cottage 36221) accommodates up to 4 people, making it possible to combine the two cottages to accommodate 7 people (subject to availability).
Nature and surroundings
The Creuse is located in central France, roughly halfway between Limoges and Clermont-Ferrand. It’s a region of rolling hills, rivers, and quiet villages that most people just drive through on their way south. It’s the perfect spot for a stopover—or to linger a little longer. Tourism here is very low-key, so there’s plenty to discover on your own. Highlights include Aubusson, a charming town world-famous for its tapestries, and the historic town of Guére. Around Lac de Vassivière, you can swim, go boating, and explore modern art at the island museum. And take a walk to the ruins of Château de Crozant, picturesquely situated above the Creuse River. Precisely because the Creuse is so little-known, it feels like an authentic slice of France.
