This beautiful house stands in the middle of the forest in the Dordogne in southern France and was built in the 18th century in the authentic style of the region. From the terrace you have a view over the spacious garden with nut trees and fruit trees. The grounds are very private, you can enjoy the enormous peace and wonderful nature to your heart's content. The house is furnished and maintained with great care and love by the owners and is equipped with all comforts. It is divided into a living kitchen with cooking island and historic fireplace, two bedrooms, two toilets, a bathroom with bathtub and a separate shower room. There is ample storage space for guests' own belongings. In the upstairs bedroom, in addition to the very comfortable double bed, there is also a queen sofa bed suitable for an adult or two children. Come in the summer or fall and pick your own fresh organic figs, walnuts, peaches, plums, apples, cherries, pears, grapes, hazelnuts or chestnuts from your own garden.
Nature and surroundings
Located in a fertile, mountainous area, the forest is home to an impressive diversity of animals large and small. For a forest house, it is therefore not surprising to encounter a rodent or insect in the house, or a deer in the garden. Inhabitants include deer, red deer, wild boar and a wide variety of birds such as ravens, orioles and woodpeckers. With the closest people about 500 m away, it is a perfect spot for wildlife spotting. Of course, it is also an excellent setting for hiking; UNESCO route to Santiago de Compostella passes through this area. Fifteen minutes drive from the house is the beautiful town of Souillac with a market with fresh local produce, supermarkets, good bakers, restaurants and regular festivals. Also around the corner are many interesting caves (including Lascaux), medieval towns like Sarlat and Rocamadour, climbing parks for children and swimming in lakes and the breathtakingly beautiful Dordogne River.
