In Onlay lies our charming "gîte en pierre" with slate roof, in a unique place in Natural Park of the Morvan. You will find comfortable furniture, atmospheric lighting, an authentic wide fireplace and a modern kitchenette. French doors lead to the rear terrace. The floor consists of "dalles de Bourgogne," which merge into front and back terraces. The terraces are equipped with umbrellas. dining tables, dining chairs and low chairs. The handmade oak staircase leads to the very spacious bedroom with wide oak floorboards. There is a double bed, consisting of two single mattresses with comforters, a luxurious bathroom with shower and a separate toilet. The house is originally a farmhouse from the early 1700s. In 2000 it was tastefully rebuilt by writer and columnist Tineke Beishuizen into a luxury vacation home while retaining its original character. For good communication, we prefer Dutch-speaking tenants.
Nature and surroundings
It is a beautiful location with a panoramic view. There is no traffic, you will find total peace, quiet and darkness at night. Surrounding the house is the garden screened by hedges. There are two terraces, one in the morning sun on the spacious front garden, one in the evening sun on the back garden. From the back terrace you have a view of a beautiful red-orange sunset in the evening. Two large trees provide shaded areas. The house is located on a hill, in a hamlet of five houses. Several short and longer hiking trails start from the house on farm paths, through forest, along the Dragne, the fast-flowing river in the valley and past the village of Onlay. Most guests come here for the quiet and to walk. The immediate surroundings are a landscape of hills, which become mountainous further away and fade into a blue haze. The hilly landscape is draped with forests and hedge-lined meadows with white cows. Lots of birds, early morning wildlife and flowery roadsides.
