The guesthouse, “De Jachtopzienerskamer,” is housed in an authentic estate barn built in 1905. This estate barn was formerly an outbuilding of the Wolversveen station on the Zelhem-Ruurlo steam railway line. Later, the estate barn was used by the Het Zand estate. “De Jachtopzienerskamer” used to be the office of the former gamekeeper and forester. The Game Warden’s Room has underfloor heating and a comfortable gas heater. The room measures 11 square meters. The room is equipped with dishes, cutlery, a kettle, a toaster, and a microwave. Coffee and tea are also provided. Free Wi-Fi is available. In the hallway, you’ll find a Senseo coffee maker, an oven, electric stovetops with pans, and a refrigerator with a freezer compartment. You’ll share the restroom facilities with the nature campground.
Nature and surroundings
The estate barn is part of the family estates of the Het Zand estate, which cover a total of 300 ha. The specific section of the Het Zand estate is called Landgoed Het Zand Hattemer Oldenburger. The family estates are open to the public in accordance with the Nature Conservation Act. They are situated in the typical “coulisse” landscape of the Achterhoek region, featuring a mix of forests, fields, and meadows. Many of the estates there are still privately owned. There are also many castles and country estates. It’s a great place for walking and biking. You can also visit the various Hanseatic towns or Bronkhorst, the smallest town in the Netherlands. The More Museum in Ruurlo is also worth a visit. One kilometer away is a good restaurant, Heeren van Wolversveen, and two kilometers away is a nice eatery, De Veldhoek. In the village of Zelhem, five kilometers away, there are also several restaurants, including Smoks. You can also have meals delivered to your room by La Roma in Zelhem,
