This estate barn was formerly an outbuilding of the Wolversveen station on the Zelhem-Ruurlo steam railway line. Later, the estate barn was used by the Het Zand estate. “De Jachtopzienerskamer” was formerly the office of the then-game warden and forester. This "nature house" matches the information provided on the website quite well. It consists of two small rooms at the back of a barn, which also houses the bathroom and kitchen facilities. These are shared with the campground guests who are camping on the adjacent field. We slept in the gamekeeper’s room, which had a bunk bed and a small heater. The host, Emma, was always available. Beautifully situated in a vast nature reserve and—importantly for us—close to the Pieterpad. Breakfast, at 17 euros, was, as Emma herself mentioned, relatively expensive, but provided a hearty start to the rest of our trip.
