Nature house in Beffe

House with a simple kitchen, comfortable dining chairs, and a good bed. Also features a pool table, plenty of books, and games for enthusiasts. Comfortable patio furniture. No dishwasher, no Nespresso machine, no citrus juicer.
The house is in need of maintenance in a few areas: exterior paint, the front door catches on the floor in two places, and only one of the two sinks in the bathroom is usable.

No tools available. We did miss having a good hacksaw when the top of a tree broke off during a storm and blocked the access road. Fortunately, one of the neighbors had a chainsaw.

The list under 3. covers the immediate surroundings.
The most frequently mentioned activities are acceptable or better for the area slightly further from the house. Furthermore, the severe drought had an impact on possible activities near and on the water.

Huis met eenvoudige keuken, goede eetkamerstoelen en goed bed. Ook een pooltafel, veel boeken en spelletjes voor de liefhebber. Comfortabel tuinmeubilair. Geen afwasmachine, geen nespresso apparaat, geen citruspers.
Huis is op een aantal punten aan onderhoud toe: Lakwerk buiten, voordeur klemt op twee plaatsen op de vloer, maar één van de twee wastafels in de badkamer beschikbaar.

Geen gereedschap beschikbaar. Een goede beugelzaag hebben we wel gemist, toen de bovenkant van een boom tijdens een bui afbrak en de toegangsweg versperde. Gelukkig beschikte één van de buren over een kettingzaag.

De meest genoemde activiteiten zijn oke of beter voor de wat verdere omgeving van het huis. Verder had de grote droogte impact op mogelijke activiteiten bij en op het water.

A beautiful spot on a southeast- and south-facing slope. The house is accessible only via a very poorly maintained, steep road that’s over a kilometer long. There are several other (vacation) homes on the slope, many of which are also rented out. They are, however, quite far apart from one another. On the east and southeast sides is a wooded slope (mixed forest) with no buildings.
No noise from neighbors, though occasionally some can be heard from much farther away, coming from the Ourthe valley.
August is generally a quiet time for bird sounds, but we did hear, among others, tawny owls, buzzards, and ravens.
Indeed, bats as well—only common species were observed.
Wall lizards: a total of 7 different individuals were seen basking in the sun and moving about near the house and on the surrounding property.
In short, a beautiful, peaceful setting with fascinating wildlife.

Mooie plek op een ZO en Z gerichte helling. Huis alleen te bereiken via een zeer slecht onderhouden steil weggetje van ruim een km. Op de helling staan meer (vakantie)huizen vaak ook in verhuur. Wel op vrij grote afstand van elkaar. Aan O en ZO zijde is een beboste helling (gemengd bos) zonder bebouwing.
Geen geluid van buren, soms wel van veel grotere afstand vanuit het dal van de Ourthe.
Augustus is een stille tijd voor vogelgeluiden i.h.a., maar wel o.a. bosuil, buizerd en raaf gehoord.
Inderdaad ook vleermuizen, alleen gewone soorten waargenomen.
Muurhagedissen, totaal 7 verschillende ex. bij het huis en op het bijbehorende terrein zien zonnen en rondlopen.
Kortom een mooie rustige omgeving met boeiende fauna.

A very comfortable and cozy house, which was also easy to keep cool despite the intense heat. Everything we needed was there.
The owner had already mentioned it in the ad, but you really need to keep in mind that the road leading to the house is in very poor condition for the last kilometer. With our old, low-slung car, it was a nail-biter—we had to hold our breath and keep our fingers crossed. Once you get there, it’s wonderful!

Een zeer comfortabel en gezellig huis, wat ook goed koel te houden was ondanks de fikse warmte. Alles was aanwezig.
De eigenaar had het al aangegeven in de advertentie, maar je moet er écht rekening mee houden dat de weg naar het huis toe de laatste kilometer erg slecht is. Met onze oude, laagliggende auto was het adem inhouden en duimen op elkaar. Als je er eenmaal bent is het geweldig!

The house had everything we were looking for: space, peace and quiet, privacy (the houses in the neighborhood were unoccupied), and a great view. Surrounded by nature. We were able to go for great walks there, even with the dogs. It might be less suitable for older dogs because all the hiking trails (understandably, since the house is on a mountain) are steep.

Het huis had alles wat we zochten: ruimte, rust, privacy (de huizen in de buurt waren onbezet) en een geweldig uitzicht. Midden in de natuur. We konden er prima wandelen, ook met de honden. Met oudere honden is het misschien minder geschikt omdat alle wandelpaden (uiteraard, het huis staat op een berg) stijl zijn.

There are plenty of beautiful hiking trails in the area; for real variety, I highly recommend starting your hike in nearby villages as well.

genoeg mooie wandelroutes in de buurt, voor echte afwisseling is het een aanrader ook in nabijgelegen dorpen te starten

Beautiful surroundings, a fully equipped cottage that—thanks in part to the pool table—will even keep teenagers happy!
