Autumn in the Achterhoek: a rich and beautiful time of year! This nature house is an old hunter's cottage, idyllically situated on the edge of the Needse Achterveld nature reserve. Restored in original style with a cozy living room with wood stove, a separate bedroom, a small kitchen, all with heating/air conditioning and a bathroom. This cottage is suitable for two adult guests. You make your own breakfast, whenever you want. There are long-life products, including cornflakes, granola, sandwich fillings and bread rolls. Coffee can be made with freshly ground beans or organic coffee cups. There is a private driveway located on the dirt road along our property. Furthermore, a private terrace and unobstructed views. Walk and discover rare birds, butterflies and plants. Enjoy the peace and space. Taste the regional products of the Achterhoek.
Nature and surroundings
The surroundings of this cottage are beautiful any time of year. Deer and hares live here. In winter you can hear the call of the tawny owl, while in summer the golden orioles sing. With the first rays of the sun, rare butterflies and dragonflies appear. Right on the edge of the Needse Achterveld nature reserve, with 110 hectares of wetland nature, lies this nature house. A hiking map is waiting for you. The area includes forests, heaths, grasslands and marshes, and is home to rare plant species such as wild gale, bell gentian and sundew. Cranes often migrate over in February and March. The green and black woodpecker can be heard and seen regularly. Tawny owls nest annually in the forest edge, where deer, hares and the occasional stone marten can also be spotted. Around the cottage, songbirds nest, including flycatchers, redstarts and warblers. In addition to unusual butterflies such as the lesser kingfisher butterfly, the rare great oriole butterfly has also been spotted.
