The Zadelkamer guesthouse is located in a former outbuilding of the Ruurlo-Zelhem steam railway line, which later served as a barn for the estate. The building was constructed in 1905. The Zadelkamer guesthouse has two single beds and features underfloor heating. It measures 10.5 square meters. You share the bathroom facilities with the nature campground, which is also located on the estate. The part of the family estate to which it belongs covers 78 hectares. The guesthouse is equipped with dishes, cutlery, a kettle, toaster, microwave, and coffee and tea. In the hallway, you’ll also find a Senseo coffee maker, a refrigerator with a freezer, an oven, stovetop burners, and pans. You’re welcome to use the garden chairs to sit outside. Free Wi-Fi.
Nature and surroundings
The estate is part of the Het Zand estate complex, which covers a total of 300 hectares. It is one of the many private estates in the Achterhoek region. The estate is open to hikers and cyclists and is crisscrossed by dirt roads. The Achterhoek region is characterized by its typical bocage landscape, with alternating forests and fields. In the surrounding area, there are several Hanseatic towns and Bronkhorst, the smallest town in the Netherlands, all of which are well worth a visit. It’s a great place for walking and cycling. Just one kilometer away is the excellent restaurant Heeren van Wolversveen, and two kilometers away is the cozy eatery De Veldhoek. In the village of Zelhem, there are several restaurants, including Smoks. You can also have meals delivered to your room by La Roma from Zelhem. The bus stop for line 23 (Borculo-Doetinchem) at Wolversveen is one kilometer away. Shops are located 5 kilometers away in Zelhem.

The accommodation is a 10 for a night, a 7 for longer stays. The room is directly adjacent to the common room. On the one hand nice to talk to people, but a little less private/quiet. Facilities are fine. So are beds. Nice, hospitable hostess.
Aardige, gastvrije gastvrouw.
Great setting, in the middle of beautiful varied forests.
Geweldige omgeving, middenin mooie gevarieerde bossen.

This really shouldn't be called a nature house as far as I'm concerned. It is a room in the back of an old (wagon) shed. It fits exactly two beds. In the corner is a mini table, but there is no room to sit at that table. There is no room for the (kitchen) stuff, so that is in a couch-box. Sanitary facilities can be found further on in the dusty and dirty shed. Plumbing was clean but outdated. Washing dishes and brushing teeth at the same sink. 1 shower with door, another behind a curtain, in the middle of the barn. Having breakfast in front of the cottage was also not possible: collect some plastic chairs (and a stool as a table) and then sit in front of the barn (where all campers walk by to go to toilet and shower) so no privacy.
About peace, space and nature not to complain at this cottage (no: room in old shed) in the middle of the forest. But the cottage itself really did not meet my (limited) expectations.
