Nature and surroundings
It’s beautiful and incredibly diverse here on the border of Friesland and Drenthe. From the house, you can step right into the Stuttebos, and the Lende is a wonderful place for walking or biking. Just a stone’s throw away is the peaceful Bekhofplas, where you can swim or fish. Deer, roe deer, badgers, and even otters have been spotted here. The soil composition also supports rare flora and a wide variety of birds. The stream valley is surrounded by better-known nature reserves such as De Weerribben, Het Drents-Friese Wold, and 't Dwingelderveld. There’s plenty to enjoy in terms of cultural history as well. The historic village of Oldeberkoop is within cycling distance, and right next to the property is the Bekhofschans, a unique remnant of the Frisian Water Line. A cannon found right here on the property now marks the entrance to the village. In nearby Frederiksoord, you’ll find the Koloniën van Weldadigheid. All in all, a wonderful setting to create memories together!
