It is early in the morning, your husband is still sound asleep. At home with the sounds of the city, he would be long awake. You silently walk outside, warming your hands on a fresh cup of coffee. You sit down on the bench and see a pair of shelducks paddling by right in front of you. You marvel every time at the sound they make. With your binoculars, you check to see if the Cormorants are still in the Plas-Dras country. Alarmed Meadow Birds draw your attention and you see Black-tailed godwits and Lapwings attacking a Rook above the land where their eggs lie. A motorboat hums closer with two fishermen in it who kindly raise their arms. "Nice place!" you hear one of them call out. As the sound of their engine dies away, you close your eyes and enjoy the wonderful silence with only the sounds of nature. Here in the middle of the meadows, only the sound of a passing car can be heard at a distance. Delightful!
Nature and surroundings
Your husband comes and sits next to you with a sleepy happy head. 'Good morning darling, I was just thinking about the wonderful bike ride yesterday along the Dokkumer Ee to Dokkum. What a lovely lunch we had there!' 'Yes, really delicious! That's definitely worth repeating. I also liked that round of Bolwerk. Would you like to relax or fish here today? Or play fish yourself and make a splash?' 'Haha, too cold for me. But looks like a lovely day like this. My book isn't finished yet either' 'Maybe tomorrow we can walk to the famous Elfsteden bridge near here in Bartlehiem and then walk on to the bird-watching hut of the 'Wide Mar'' 'We're going to be busy. The bicycle tour along the Dokkumer Ee to Leeuwarden with a ferry crossing for lunch in Wyns on the way is also warmly recommended to us!' 'Indeed! And when are we going to one of the Wadden Islands? A week is really too short.' 'Yes it really is!' 'Would the Kingfisher show up again today...'
