National Park Lauwersmeer is 5 kilometers away. The Wadden Sea is 12 kilometers away. The historic town of Dokkum is 9 kilometers away. The ferry to Schiermonnikoog is 18 kilometers away. The accommodation is simple but comfortable. Shower and toilet is also available on board. The ship has bunk beds and an attractive dayroom with well-equipped kitchen. The locks of Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen and the surrounding villages are also fun to walk or cycle through. For example, there are several farm stores and the beautiful town of Dokkum is not far away either. In Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen there is also the possibility to do a guided lock walk. In the surroundings you can enjoy wide views, the typical Frisian polder landscape and the peace that the area has to offer. The Wadden Sea is nearby, where you can explore the mud flats or visit Lauwersoog. The area is perfect for nature lovers looking for peace, space and rich biodiversity.
